Really Important News

I realized that sometimes while driving I hold my left leg up, straight out, so my toes are pointed towards the top of the car. I catch myself doing it all the time. The hell?

What do you catch yourself doing?

Updates

The re-potty training is going great. Senor is doing well and we're all very proud of him. It helps that he poops on schedule, so I just make sure we're home for that. We're still working on him reminding himself to go. That's been the hardest part. We've been able to do simple errands without accidents, so that's great. We still use a diaper for night time, but he's been waking up dry too. It's great not having to fight him all day long about using the potty. We're still using rewards and bribes, but for only when he reminds himself to go.

He had a bit of a bloody nose the other night, so Deb pulled out her nose clips for fun. Years ago she had a nose bleed that ended her up in the ER and they awarded her with those, so she keeps them around just in case. Vance has seen them used on Ryan (she gets nose bleeds too) so he felt he needed them.

Baby girl is doing great also. Here she is yesterday at the pool. She slept through the whole thing. She's been sleeping really well at night. Her last feeding is somewhere between 9:00 and 10:00 and wakes up only once, usually around 3:00 or 3:30. She just laughed (I'm calling it the first official time) 30 minutes ago while sitting in her swing. Her tear duct is giving her problems again, so we're back to putting in her eye stuff multiple times per day.

I heard that today is Paint Buying Day, so I have to get my colors picked out. Justin remembered that all of our painting stuff is packed, so we'll have to buy new brushes, rollers, and drop cloths also. We close tomorrow morning and Justin will start painting tomorrow night. That's what our weekend will be about. Painting and getting ready for Tuesday. That's when The Movers arrive. I'm excited to see our stuff again. I'm also excited to go furniture shopping and pick out new family room furniture. Yea! I'm sure Justin is equally excited about picking out a new TV. What's going on is that we have a loft upstairs which we decided to put our old furniture, TV, and entertainment center there. So, the family room downstairs will be empty until we find new stuff.

Must run and get dressed while Vaughn is napping.

Here's BG on her way home from the hospital, 3 days old.

Here's BG yesterday, 7 weeks and 3 days old, wearing the same outfit. Fills it out just a little bit better, huh?

After a somewhat hairy house inspection, arguing realtors, and a counter offer that we never thought the sellers would approve, we thought we'd have to start house hunting again. However, Monday morning brought news that they had accepted our counter and we're still closing this Friday.

Because people have been asking, the house is in St. Charles. And yes, we'll be painting all weekend, getting ready for the arrival of Our Stuff on Tuesday.

See ya dipes!

Everyone has left for Philly, it's just me and the kiddos this weekend. Perfect time to re-potty train!

Vance's regression was getting worse everyday and I was tired of fighting with him everyday. Yesterday was our first day and he did rather well. He's good at #1, not so good with #2. In fact, that was our only accident yesterday. I'm not sure if we can call it an accident, really. I'm pretty sure he meant to do it. He snuck away while I was feeding Vaughn. Today he's not leaving my side. Cleaning #2's out of undies is...um...not something I want to do on a regular basis.

I'm a little (a lot) jealous that everyone is away for the weekend. I heard the weather in Philly was beautiful yesterday, the high around 75. I'll miss not being able to see my friend say "I do" or hearing Justin make his Best Man speech. (Justin said he'll put his phone on speaker so I can hear, we'll see if that works out!) At least by the end of the weekend we'll be that much closer to having only one child in diapers. That's my silver lining and is what will get me through this weekend.

Good Idea Turned Bad

My dad suggested that we go on a walk last Sunday. It being a beautiful morning and Father's day, we all ran to put our shoes on. I even got Daisy ready to go because it had been awhile since she had been on a walk. For those who'd like to visualize, it was me, my mom and dad, Vance, Daisy, and Baby Girl in the stroller. Justin was golfing.

Ten minutes into our walk proved that the beautiful morning had turned into a hot early afternoon. Vance, who refused just to walk, "I exercising!", would only jog and Daisy was already panting pretty hard.

(Due to present time restraints, I'm going to make this short...)

We barely made it to the Market Basket before Daisy and Vance's legs gave out. Yes, we were the ones hanging out in front of the Green Earth Grocery store waiting for a vehicular rescue by Team Little. Vance's legs could have made the trip back, but Daisy's back legs literally stopped working. As in no more walking. It never occurred to me that she couldn't handle a walk this long. Our little dog is getting old.

(Baby crying, cranky Vance, must run...)

First Bikini

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

The house inspection was yesterday, so I met Justin over there to check things out and to show Vance his new house. He was really excited and totally confused.

The owners have relocated back to Georgia already, but have not moved their stuff out of the house yet. When I asked him what his favorite part of the house was he said, "This couch!"

3 of the bedrooms are pink, each a different shade, and he's nervous that he won't have any place to sleep. He keeps telling me those are for Baby Girl and Ryan, whom he always associates with the color pink, and that he needs a "blue one." If you're free on the weekend of the 27th and good with a paintbrush, come on over. We got some work to do.

...............

Last night was a rough one. Vance fell out of bed around 12:30. After hearing the thud followed by tears I jumped out of bed to make sure everything was okay. ("I hurt mysels on my bed!")((Vance has a tough time with pronouncing F's.)) Baby Girl was up at 1:30 and 4:30. She's usually a better sleeper than that. Good thing that Vance will be spending some time with Gram today. Unfortunately I won't be spending that free time poolside with boat drinks, I'll be at a doctors appointment.

Hope Tuesday is a good one.

We're homeowners again!

We put an offer on a house last night. I have a picture, but I don't want to jinx anything yet. They have until 5:00 tonight to counter.

I'm sure everyone is glad about the possibility of the house hunting to be over. My mind has been consumed with houses and bottles lately and that's all I'm capable of talking about. I'm a mess and am ready for the house portion to be over.

I'm assuming everyone's fingers and toes are crossed right now.

I'll let you know.

P.S. Martha, Deb and Jeff rented a car for Philly. They wanted me to let you know.

House hunted all day yesterday. Totally discouraged as of right now. Decent houses with decent backyards are hard to come by.

Marlon, The Bee Keeper

No, the man in the bee suit is not Justin, it's Marlon, the Bee Keeper. We share the backyard with many living things, one being Honey Bees. One of the hives got a little out of hand and Deb had to call Marlon to get the situation under control.

Vance and Vaughn had doctor check-ups yesterday.

Turns out Vaughn is a Chunker. (The doctor's term, not mine.)

Our non-dainty little girl is in the 97th percentile for weight, 95th for height. She is heavier by over a pound than what Vance weighed at one month old. I know she got all of her hair from Justin and I'm guessing she got the chubby baby thing from him too because I was bald and scrawny until the age of 4, or so I'm told. I'm loving her chubby cheeks and have been enjoying scrubbing between her little fat rolls.

.......

We've found a house we like in a neighborhood that we would want to be in. However, the backyard is the size of a ping pong table and is sloped. We're trying to think how we could rework the landscaping to accommodate a swing set. A backyard is important to us, so we're having a tough time with this decision.

Here's The Crazy Lady two Saturdays ago. It's hard taking a good picture of her because she's still just a lump o' wiggly baby right now.

No time to write. More house hunting tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.
