Turkey Lurkey Doo

Here's a snapshot of my mom, sister, and aunt. We had a great Thanksgiving. Too much food and way too much to be thankful for this year! We started out at my parents house then moved to Justin's parents that afternoon. My parents have been playing Extreme Makeover at their house and the kitchen is almost finished. Looks great!

Didn't do too much this weekend. Vance and I built a mini-snowman today, there's the proof. I love the mustache. Justin left today for work and will be gone all week. We made cookies last night which means I'm alone with unchaperoned cookies. There's no one to police how many I eat and that's trouble.

Vaughnie's tooth factory is in full speed. Her top right middle tooth poked through today. That's 5 all together and she's not even 7 months old now.

Justin is wearing the hat that Vance made for Turkey Day. Apparently, Vaughn finds it hilarious...until she starts choking on a Puff.

Forgot to mention that she cut two more teeth over the weekend. So, she's up to 4 now. Two bottoms, 1 right canine, and 1 upper left.

Props to Ry Bray who left her singing toy from McDonald's in my car yesterday. Vance found it and we've been listening to, "I like to move it, move it" ever since. He'll be returning it to you tomorrow.

Vance had his last day of school today. He'll be starting at a new school, which is closer to home, next week. I know this arrangement will be better for everyone in the long run, but it's still sad.

Vance is a shy little guy and was just starting to open up in class. He really likes his teachers and was starting to make friends. He loved seeing his cousin at drop-off and pick-up time, even though it was only for a minute or two. I enjoyed hanging out with my family while Vance was in class. It will be hard getting over not seeing them that often.

The hardest thing is that Vance doesn't really get why we're making him switch schools. We've had many talks about it and he's still confused. We've put him through so much in the past 7 months and I feel guilty about everything.

Yesterday we got our MO license plates and drivers licenses. Today was Vance's last day of school in IL. Every month I talk less and less to friends back in WI. I'm feeling a little bit lost right now. At least I can look forward to a vomit-free ride on school days now.

Scottsdale

Vacation was amazing. One of the best we've ever taken. The weather was perfect. Vance was perfect. Being without our Vaughnie was tough, but we know she was very well taken care of and was only spoiled a little bit!

We really didn't do too much. We sat by the pool, read, drank boat drinks, and ate. We did a little shopping, visited friends one night for dinner, and actually went out sans kids one night for dinner. I'll post some pictures later.

Out of Town - Enjoy This

June 6. First Silly Hat Picture.

November 11. Second Silly Hat Picture.

Vance is into Peter Pan now. He took it upon himself to dress like Peter Pan this afternoon. I was blow drying my hair and he jumped into the bathroom wearing a green baseball hat, a green sweatshirt, and green shorts. He was so proud of himself. It was cute.

No packing was accomplished today.

Vaughn is starting to sit up. Still wobbly, but she's getting better.

Here's the Big Lady looking her chubbiest. This is the pic that I sent to the Chelsey Lately show for the Big Fat Baby segment.

This is Day Two that my car will be in the shop. We actually picked it up last night, but found out that one of the main problems was not fixed. No heat in the back of the car. It just blows cold air. Brrrr! Chilly kids! So, back in it goes today. Will have to be creative to find things to keep Vance busy and non-cranky.

We're leaving in a couple of days for Scottsdale. Here's some pics if you're interested. This is our second time going. The first time we went was July of 2007, when they reached record highs. We knew going to the desert in the summer was going to be hot, but we weren't thinking it would be THAT hot. 116 was the high that weekend. You could feel your hair singe when walking across the parking lot. Vance will be going with us, but Vaughn is staying behind to enjoy quality time with Gram. I'm trying to get emotionally stable for drop off day - It's going to be hard to leave my baby for 6 days!

Must run! Happy Tuesday!

Happy Birthday to Me

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! I had a wonderful birthday weekend. Justin planned a surprise dinner at Niche with all of my family and bowling afterwards at Flamingo Bowl. The following day was spent shopping with The Girls and dinner at Justin's parents. Again, it was a perfect way to celebrate my 30th - Thanks!

Numbers

21.5 pounds: How much Vaughn weighs. That puts her above the 100th percentile for her age.

27.25 inches: Vaughn's length. That's between the 90th and 95th percentile.

29: The number of Boxwood shrubs that we have in our front yard. (Overkill, if you ask me.)

30: How old I am today.

6 months of fun

Vaughn turned 6 months old a few days ago. Here's what's going on:
  • On my scale she's 22.5 lbs. We'll find out an exact at the Doc's appt. tomorrow
  • She's rolling over like crazy
  • Starting to move around by pulling herself
  • Her 3rd tooth has almost pushed through her gums
  • Making lots of noises with her mouth. Raspberries, bubbles, etc.
  • Likes Peek-a-boo
  • Still spitting up a ton
  • Likes sweet potatoes and peas, but LOVES carrots
  • Still sleeping and napping great
  • Loves her big brother even more than last month. The bond that they already have is amazing. We're loving seeing it grow.

Spiderman and Chicken

Here's the kiddos. Vance wore the chicken suit for his second Halloween and Grandma had the good idea to try it on Vaughnie, since her original costume did not fit anymore. A little big, but it worked perfectly!

Vance loved trick-or-treating. After each house he kept saying, "They gave me candy!" I've been throwing out a little candy each day and Vance has noticed the dwindling candy bowl. Yesterday at the grocery store he told me that we needed to get more Halloween candy, that we're almost out. As if the candy wasn't enough, I picked up some Oreo's at the store, only to find out that Girl Scout cookies are in and I'll be getting them on Tuesday. Too much. Can't say no to cookies. Need to start exercising.

Lots to do today. Bye Bye!
