Of course I'm home, I'm not cool

In Stacy's comment on the previous post (Thanks, Stac!) she mentioned she was at a photoshoot. That made me start thinking. I liked the way that sounded. I'd like to have Stacy's job so I could say things like that. Then I thought, I don't really want Stacy's job, I'm happy where I'm at, I just want to be able to say things that sound cool like that. "I'm wiping buns over here!" Nope, not cool. "I've got a coupon for those diapers." Not even close to being a cool thing to say.

For the sake of coolness and to make me feel better, I think I'll start spinning stories in order to make things a little more interesting. "And so I told the bitch to take her kids out of the grocery cart with the truck attached, because Vance feels like driving today and there's no more left!"

Feeling cooler already.

More Fruit

Not too sure what to do here. This is the area over the cooktop. Looking closely, I discovered that this is hand painted on the tile. I have a product that will take acrylic paint off of stone, but am a little scared to do so. What if this product doesn't take all of the paint off and leaves a stain of some sort? (I've tested it and it doesn't seem to, but am worried that the deep reds and purples won't clean off entirely.) Will it look goofy with nothing there? It's done well, that's not the problem, but just is not my style. I spend so much time it the kitchen and it just looks so out of place. I know I could have a tile person come in and do something else, but I don't want a picture of anything there. But it has that raised border, so it looks like something should go there...Hmmm.... guess I need to chill on this one for a little bit and focus on something else.

Furniture for the loft comes today and the fence guy is coming over so I can sign the contract. Unfortunately, they are 4-5 weeks out, so we'll be walking Daisy Fuentes for at least another month. Woof.

Kitchen Post

The Original Owner of this house wallpapered the kitchen and covered each and every window with some sort of Mistreatment. The wallpaper could have been worse, I guess I could have lived with it a little longer and focused on other projects. But I couldn't take the busyness of all that fruit and it made me feel like I was just visiting here. I like fruit. Just not on my walls.

The paint color turned out lighter than what we wanted and photographed more yellow than it really is. (Overt eyes from kitchen clutter) Boy, it feels great to have the fruit off the walls and those hideous curtains down. Starting to feel more like Home. Now, we need to focus on window coverings. I'm not sure what I want to do with the bay window area. Don't want anything too heavy or that wouldn't let in light, but want coverage for night time. Maybe cafe curtains? Any advice?

I've got the kitchen wallpaper almost all down and have a lot of pictures to share. In the chaos, I have misplaced my camera cord and charger, so I can't download the pictures. I'll try and get them downloaded this weekend.

Vaughnie just found her feet. I mean, like seconds ago. She's sitting on the table in her Bumbo seat in front of me and keeps wiggling them around and staring at them. Her thighs are getting too big for the Bumbo. When I go to take her out of it, the chair comes with and I have to pry her little leggies out.

Needless to say, it's going to take us awhile to get this house where we want it. Seems like we've been so busy since we've moved in with other things, we don't have much time left over to do house related stuff. It's hard for me to get anything done during the day, you know, with those damn needy kids around. No matter where I hide, they always find me. And Vance still hasn't been napping. I need normal, everyday life to stop for a few days and I'd be able to get things done. But, no, there's laundry and grocery shopping and cooking and "Play with me, I'm bored!" and "Waaaaaa! I'm hungry!". There's half started projects everywhere, piles of paperwork and mail scattered about, and clutter! Don't get me started about the clutter! It's hard for me to live like this. I can't concentrate or relax when so much needs to be done. Hopefully we can cross a few more items off of our list this weekend.

Vance has actually slept in this morning, which is the exact reason this post is being written. He's up now and just informed me that he's bringing down toast and breakfast for us. Am considering bringing his kitchen down here. He keeps bringing all his play food down, half of it falling off of the plate and bouncing down the stairs. I'm tired of hauling it back upstairs throughout the day.

On the agenda for this weekend:
Picking out paint for the kitchen/family room/foyer
Finishing the wallpaper and washing the walls
Deciding on a fence
Hanging dining room curtains and rods
Getting Vance a new car seat (my coupon expired yesterday, go figure)

Drumroll Please...

Vaughn's right thigh is an impressive 9.5 inches around. My right bicep is an unimpressive 9 inches. Don't mess with us.

I'm Back Baby!

We survived two weeks without TV and Internet. While most couples would have used this time to communicate and reconnect, Justin and I chose to watch Seinfeld DVD's. That's just how we roll.

Not to rain on the parade, but we're still not 100% around here. I'm using my old PC laptop right now and we're watching a 26'' TV that's sitting on the floor. Because this house is bigger than our old house and because we now have an upstairs loft, we're short on furniture and TV's. I have a whole slew of House posts planned and I'll elaborate on this situation. (Exciting...I know.)

Wait! Quick Kid Updates: Vance is now totally potty trained and Vaughn, well, smiles and eats. And eats. And eats. Tomorrow I'm planning on measuring her thighs, because I'm pretty sure they're bigger than my biceps. How's that for a cliff hanger!

Still no internet. I'm at my parents - Vaughn had a doctor's appointment this morning and we stopped by here to pack up more of our belongings. We won't have internet or TV until the 17th. Woof.

Vaughn is off the charts in terms of weight. (14.5 lbs.) She's 75th percentile for height. Whose child is this? The doctor said we can start cereal soon if we'd like to.

Moving in is a slow process. That's all I have to say about that right now.

Must run. Good day.

My mom and I made a dent in the unpacking yesterday and I'm sad to say this will be our last morning at The Parents house. We're moving out today. Unfortunately, we still don't have internet at the new house, so this will be the last post until we get connected.

But wait, before I go...Fun Facts!

  • Every house we have owned has had a red door. (That's 3!)
  • Baby Girl weights 14 lbs. now. If she keeps this type of weight gain up, she'll be 84 lbs. when she's 1 year old!
  • Baby Girl's Yellow Highlighter colored room looks okie-dokie with her furniture and bedding. (Phew!)
  • The previous owner of the house has covered every window with some homemade type of treatment. This is not a good thing. They all will be coming down.
  • Maybe this new house has weak walls. The previous owners hung everything with big blue anchors. A challenge to decorate around.
And Freebies!
  • If anyone wants to read The Tender Bar, let me know. I'll send you the book.
  • If anyone wants boxes, we've got a million! Come and get 'em!
  • There was something else I, hmmm..., can't remember it now.
Can't believe it's almost the 4th. We've been too busy to notice. Hope everyone has a great one!

Finally Moving Day

I'm happy to announce that Moving Day is over. It was a long day and I'm beat. The house is a mess and we're back at The Parents house until we get unpacked. I'll go back over tomorrow and do more work.

The Head Movers, a husband and wife team, reminded me of Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife Beth. Their son was also there, plus two more workers. I played Bingo with them all day outside and forgot to put sunscreen on. My shoulders are fried. For fun, moving goes like this: When they pack your stuff, it is numbered and color coded. When they unpack your stuff, they yell out the numbers and you have to cross them off the list. Much like Bingo. We started at 8:00 and finished around 3:00. This whole process makes you realize how much junk you have.

Deb and Dee were posted inside the house, responsible for Baby Girl and for getting the kitchen organization process going. Vance was at Gram's hanging out and having a good time. Justin had to work, but checked in at lunch and did some unpacking after work. Both of our families have been helping us out so much during this whole process and we're forever grateful! We couldn't do this without you guys, thanks so much! When we get settled we'll have an appreciation dinner for everyone!

To bed!
