Goofball

Vance loves to wear hats. Not baseball hats, but stocking hats. And he likes wearing them inside the house. All the time.

I'm getting sick. I thought I could fight it, but it is inevitable. I'm living with two snotty men and they finally wore me down. I've been taking Zicam, but I woke up today to a scratchy throat and a runny nose. Mom, I need soup!

What's for Dinner? Cannellini & Chevre Salad

Last night we salad. Yummm, salad. I'm not usually a dinner salad type of person, but I really like this one and it's super easy to make.

Lettuce of your choice
Tomatoes (I like the grape ones)
Chevre cheese
Cannellini beans (probably misspelled)

That's it. I added chicken last night to make it more of a meal. Make sure to drain and rinse the beans. The original recipe called for a balsamic/dijon vinaigrette, but I didn't care for it, so I either use a bottled vin. or just olive oil and lemon.

Enjoy!

Noteworthy Quotes from Thanksgiving

"My mom is not loose!"

"Jesus, that's a lot of vodka..."

"I've lost count. Are we where we need to be yet?"

We survived Thanksgiving and are back in Wisconsin. Both Vance and Justin woke up with colds, so I'm nervous that I'm going to be next. Bring on the Zicam! Vance hasn't grasped the concept of blowing his nose yet, so I've been chasing him around all morning with the snot sucker. He's taking a cold medicine induced nap right now, which will give me time to clean up his snotty nose marks on myself, couch, toys, and doors. Hopefully the medicine will kick-in during his nap and dry him up a little.

I'm giving flickr a whirl, so try it out. It seems like a good way to view pictures. So far, it's just the pics from Thanksgiving. Enjoy!

What's For Dinner? Turkey Chili

Updated: The link below no longer works, but this one does. Cooking Light's White Bean and Turkey Chili

The chili was a success and here is a much better picture. If you want the recipe, click here. This is the first time I've eaten a white chili of any kind and I really liked it. From what I hear, white bean and turkey chili is quite popular these days. Another chef was making it last night. BAM!
Does anyone watch Top Chef? I'm hoping that Marcel leaves soon. His attitude and puffy hair are driving me crazy! Can't wait to see tonight!

Weather Update

In all my 28 years I have never seen a weather forcast as I did this morning. The tag line for today's forcast is Complete and Absolute Cloudiness. Complete and Absolute Cloudiness. Not Mostly Cloudy or just Cloudy, but Complete and Absolute Cloudiness. What an uplifting way to start the day. Maybe it's time to switch to a new news station.

What's For Dinner?

White Bean and Turkey Chili
I now know why the job of a Food Stylist is so important! I promise it doesn't look this unappetizing! What I can't promise you is how it tastes. We'll see tonight and I'll report back!

Been a long time...

I had a wonderful birthday this year, thanks everyone! Justin and Vance planned a great day for me and my mom also made the trip up and stayed a few days. Cupcakes were made, meals were eaten out, and presents were opened. It was a perfect day, except for the part where Daisy got out and we had to chase her around the neighborhood. Obscenities were said, ankles were twisted, and lungs were almost thrown up.
We were part of a Winter Advisory on Friday. Wind, sleet, and snow - almost 3 inches! And it's only November! We fought the crowds at Target this weekend and bought Vance boots and snow bibs. Have you looked at the selection of snow boots for boys? Two kinds. Blue Plastic and Black Plastic. The selection for girls is very different. Pinks, Purples, different styles...It's so not fair! Vance has not gotten into the snow yet, but looking out from the window he was very excited. Vow...Vow...

Surprise!

I've taught Vance many things, some more beneficial than others. Reacting to the word "Surprise" may be one of the silliest things we've ever discussed, but definitely one of the funniest.

Thanks to all who voted for the birthday present! Majority favored the camera, and a brand spankin' new one was delivered to me last weekend. (An early gift from my 2 favorite men!) I decided on a Canon and I really am liking it so far. My old digital camera was a dinosaur and I'm guessing it was Sony's first digital model. To be honest, it wasn't even mine. I borrowed it from my parents and never returned it. The dimensions would knock your socks off; I didn't call it "The Box" for nothing. So, I'm getting used to the small size of my new camera and all of the bells and whistles. I've taken a ton of pictures, but turns out I can't post them...yet. Without knowing, my recording pixels were set too high, thus making the pictures too large to post. So, I'm trying to find a way to compress the files. If anyone has any knowledge about this I would appreciate some help. I know how to change it for future pictures, but not sure if I can change the pictures I've already taken. So, I'll give you an old picture of Vance after we first bought his Halloween costume and will be working on getting new pics up as soon as possible.
